Well, i’ve finished my project and so i’m going to take some time to review what i have done. I really liked the project, it has given me the opportunity to try out some more advanced after effects techniques, and has allowed me to use live footage. I have also liked doing this blog, i feel it is a much better way to show my development as you can see high quality images and video, which is something you wouldn’t get with just a sketchbook. It has also been quick and easy to update when i have done something.
Things to look for in the future are, definitely properly editing live footage. I think i may have to find a camera with better movie capabilities but i still want to give it a go.
Well here it is, the final piece.
The video is nearly complete and hand in is tomorrow. I just need to finish editing the book scene, put all the scenes together, add some sound/music and render it out. The more i watch each section the more i dislike them, but i suppose that happens with things you’ve been working on for a long time.
I am going to add titles to my video with the word ‘SimpLIFEy’ in. This is the theme i’ve been trying to get across, simplifying life.

This is the pie chart displaying how my memory is used at any given time. The green part is free memory……its been like that for days, my mac is running very slow with this editing.
Icons and ruler frame i created to use in my film. These act as photoshop tools changing objects throughout the scenes.
For example thhe dropper and bucket icons are used for changing the colour of my shoes in the shoe scene.
They have green backgrounds because its easy to key it out in after effects.
For transitions between each of my editing scenes, i have filmed footage using a fisheye lens looking down at my feet.
The videos show me walking from one scene to the next, including having no shoes on then after the shoes scene wearing the red pair of converse for the rest of the film.
This video wont be used in the final sequence but I liked how it looked with me walking down the flight of stairs.
I went out again to some more pictures of the civil justice building. I wanted another view of the building for my video.
Photoshop for the shoes scene.
I traced round the shoes and duplicated them. Then i simply used Hue and Saturation to change the colours of the shoes until they were a close enough red to the actual red pair.
Photoshop of the train times board.
Fairly simple this one, just copied and pasted Manchester Vic over all the other station names.
Photoshopping for the book sequence.
This was the easiest to edit due to the lack of colours and easy cloning ability. I’ve changed certain words for much simpler words, and deleted bits of text but still ensuring the sentences make sense.
